I've been unemployed for 2 (going on 3) months. I quit my part time job after moving back home with my mom and didn't pick up another part time job right away because I thought I'd make finding a career my priority and I wanted to have an open schedule for interviews. Anyway, I want to start working again (at the very least, part time, preferably full time) as soon as possible. I'm just worried about this "unemployment gap" that I keep hearing about. How long do you have to be unemployed before you have a "gap" that looks bad to employers?

Right now I'm waiting for my background check and stuff to go through for substitute teaching (I heard it can take a month for the state to get everything together ) but I'm also applying for other jobs that kind of relate to a career in business that I'd eventually like to have (bank teller, administrative assistant, etc.).

All gaps look bad. However, what I have heard is that the gap could really start to hurt you at 6 to 9 months of unemployment.
