The issue is what specifically quantifies what employers want and how exactly can one obtain that level fully knowing how proprietary the market is?
Let's be honest here there are some tasks that long ago were considered skills but today are no longer. People used to hire typists. Now even someone in elementary school can learn to type. Programming might be in middle schools.
The average small business only plans ahead of time roughly nine months. Seasonality of business cycles nearly assures this. Major corporations are twice as long but at that level it is more about reacting to competitors. What will iphone 8 look like? Well we have to wait for Galaxy 6 etc. Drug companies can be the same as they look at what other drugs do and try to improve upon.
Of course in all of this government plays a role because without patents, trademarks, copyrights and servicemarks most businesses would dissolve within a year. This is also why open source scares the heck out of companies.
Companies use the law rather then physical force to get their way. At no point do the CEO's of Coke and Pepsi attempt to battle each other like a bunch of street gangs. Instead they take matters to court. The same can be said for plenty of other competitors.
There is an oversupply in America right now for most qualifications. If you need to look 3 years ahead to predict what companies will want then you're in trouble, as would most of the workforce. In a normal job market, companies will just hire and train for job skills but of course that is not happening.
^ completely agree with this. This is especially pronounced in metro areas where there are loads of qualified candidates. I hate looking at life as a competition.
We are just to many in this world.... Nothing to do with employers.
And it s not going to stop.
These last 100 years, we have extended life expectation from 50 to 80 and more.
We have already people over 100yo.
The oldest person was 120.
Now who is going to work to keep these billions of retired people, who must pay? Be ready for more hard times guys....
