Another report from the course I am taking connected with getting a job:

The employment expert who is teaching the class talked yesterday about the new employment landscape we all face as a result of the worst job market since the Great Depression. He said years ago all you needed was education and skills to get a good job in management at a great employer, but now with hundreds of highly qualified applicants for every opening, the best places to work need something more.
CHARISMA!

What do you think of this? Is charisma really that important of trait to have if you are in management for a Fortune 500 Company or other leading employers of choice. Do you try to show your charisma when you interview for a job? How do you show charisma in a job interview?

I thought you're retired. Why are you taking "get a job" classes? Go do something fun.

I don't think this employment "expert" is really saying anything that isn't common sense. How can a positive trait like charisma not be good for every situation? He didn't even say good looks which is subjective and may harm you in getting certain jobs. Charisma is just the ability to inspire loyalty and confidence from others. For his next lesson he will probably give away the big secret that being qualified for the job is very useful in this job market.

After being drummed out of my last employer and forced into retirement I am miserable and want to change from "I'm retired now to I'm working now!"

Common sense, nothing new.

If a person gets to an interview, they are already qualified to do the job. The interview is most of the time about who is the most qualified, and most importantly, who would they like to work with.

Is this a real question? Did the course presenter actually use this like it was something new?

You've always needed to be a charismatic person to be effective leading other people.

And you can't "be" more charismatic, or "show" your charisma. You have it or you don't.

Employment Expert says we need charisma to be hired at top companies today!

This does not apply to engineers.

When does a person decide to become an engineer?

Spoiler
When he realizes he doesn't have enough charisma to become an undertaker.

What do engineers use for birth control?

Spoiler
Their personalities.

Most people (including me) are dull and boring and only charismatic to their husbands or wives. Now to get a good job you need a personality or persona that stands out and makes people notice. (Unless of course you work in Accounting, or a STEM field)

My career has been in Operations Management.
