Entry level means the lowest level position in the organization, it doesn't mean that no experience is required. When there are more job openings than applicants, people with no experience could get these jobs. Now there are plenty of experienced people available so companies can and will require experience. It reduces their cost of training, and the new employee becomes productive faster. The reason for having a business is to make money, that means maximize revenue while minimizing expense.

The issue is companies at some point WILL need to train because of short-sided cost savings measures they enacted during the recession and maintained through the recovery. They want turn-key employees but what do you do when you can't find them or worse, have to replace older workers who are in different roles?
