I worked in a health club when I was in college. Health clubs care about sales, the bottom line, not about the cleanliness of the club. Usually the sales staff and trainers do the cleaning and they focus on the equipment and visible items.

We had urine and sweat build up in our hot tub and one time while I was touring a potential member, they asked what the smell was when we walked by the hot tub. I later asked my boss what I was supposed to tell them and he said "Tell them it's the Roman Mineral Salts."

I never use public hot tubs or whirlpools.

Here's a no brainer,

Lawyer fees are based on "estimates." Estimates are based on how much money the lawyer feels they can make through you.

But you may not know,

Alot of legal casework is completed by folks who are not attorneys but do bill $175 per hour (for the firm). Those people earn anywhere from $12-20 per hour.

As phone tech: 99%+ of phone conversations are too boring to listen to; when I tap on it's just to see when you finish so I can yank the line. Even then I put buttset down and only check back periodically to see if you're finished. Take too long and I'll just yank the line mid-conversation.

Office people talk like you're not even there; I could have gotten so much dirt, stock info etc if so inclined.

Most restaurants are disgusting behind the scenes. Pretty much all Chinese places have raw chicken in a plastic tub on floor by bathroom.

Some wealthy people don't have squat displaying wealth at their main home; they must keep it elsewhere.

There may be a Big Gulp cup with no lid full of urine in the ceiling right above you; it's been there since construction and none of us are touching it (don't wanna "break the crust")

As computer tech: I don't search your computer for porn nor do I care how you use it; I just want to fix it and be gone.

I know the exact GPS coordinates of many archaeological sites. We can't even let our clients know where they are.

Yes, the DMV is there to make money from you (a "hidden tax"). But don't take it out on the workers; complain to your governor and legislature, they make the rules.

Most taxpayer money that goes toward human services (mental health, developmental disabilities, substance abuse) goes toward complying with lots of government regulations and NOT toward actually helping the people with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use problems.

Having worked as an accountant for City govt, you really REALLY REALLY need to look into what your tax dollars are spent on. They would buy 2000 dollar radios they didnt need just to keep their budget for next year. There were supply closets full of brand new electronics still in the wrapping. They would eventually be scrapped or auctioned off. Sure they use competitive bidding to buy cheaper vehicles, but they were vehicles that werent even needed in the first place.

government subcontractors can fight with each other....badly.

privatation can backfire big time in efficiency. I worked on a project like that that was in the news. it was like survivor or hunger games from day one....

your company depending on how they set up their phones, emails, network can easily track , listen to calls, spy on you, etc. luckily must don't care but if a company wants to find misconduct its easy.

^^^^^^ YUKK !!

On a few jobs I've learned :

Power plants -

was amazed the city was still lit after working with such numbskulls - management AND workers . Some ( mgt.) who thought it was a great idea to cut through a GAS PIPE with a saw that made SPARKS
some wanted to play with powerful equipment / chemicals like toys - imagine using a hydraulic hose to goose your co workers on a hot day , look directly at a welding arc because " it's PRETTY " ( this causes "flashing" a burn to the eyes so painful sometimes you can't open them the day after ), draw a dart board and use a nail gun as darts , how about seeing if you could lift your buddies car with the fork lift ?
or ride down the block on the blades ?

And my all time fav - lets see what that SUPER HEATED STEAM cuts - btw super heated steam is so hot you can't even see it ,it's only evident by ( sometimes ) sound and CAN cut through flesh / metal like a laser

Communications co. -

It was fun watching noobs leaning on outdoor phone lines and get the shock of their lives , the public will make an appointment to get their cable / computer etc. repaired and when we show up be naked or have the remains of a mind altering drug / sex party laid out on the floor .

Meeting celebs or people who had great addresses but their place looks like HOARDERS
and wanting repair people to come on by when you got MONO or pigeon poop ( which is un healthy )
piled a mile high in your home or place of business .

Once I walked into an apt. with small bedrooms with nothing but bunk beds in them - looked like a fully booked Japanese hotel !!!
