More and more employers are asking those interviewing for positions for their SAT/ACT scores, even from those that are in their 30's and 40's now.

It's just a stupid article that one little stupid journalist wrote. No need to freak out over it. Most articles aren't even factually accurate and are written to get attention just as this one is now.

I would give them whatever number seemed reasonable at the moment and then list off the performers I saw at Live Aid and offer to prove to them that I know all the words to REM's "It's the End of the World" either written or sung!
"That's great, it starts with an earthquake
Birds and snakes, an aeroplane, and Lenny Bruce is not afraid"
I've seen government jobs ask for this nonsense, or at least an estimate of the scores. I have no idea why - if you have a college degree, the SAT score is completely irrelevant since it was clearly "high enough" to get into a college.

This is correct. A few companies (the vast majority of them investment banking or management consulting firms) I interviewed with in college asked for my SATs and GPA. The vast majority of companies did not ask for SATs although many asked for GPA. That said, this was only applicable in college and after college, I have not had a single company (many of them very "prestigious") ask for my test scores or GPA.
BTW most of the people who worked at these companies also told me that even when they ask for SAT scores, it plays a minimal role in the interview process.
Three months ago, I spoke to people from Fortune 500 companies and other large employers. Nobody asked for my SAT scores. When I filled out the background check and job info, they still didn't ask for it.
