1-1/2 yrs & it was a chore to stay that long due to the hostile work environment. Physical fights actually broke out at that office, twice (not me... the men). Accepted another job for a 20% pay raise but only lasted 1-mo, as I moved out of state for warmer weather, greener pastures & a career change. My heart wasn't in the 1st career, so I abandoned it. Returned to it twice at varying intervals... always managed 1-2 years before running screeching like a lunatic for the hills. Probably best to leave it alone now.
I was there for 3 years. During the Great Recession, the company was sold and everybody was laid off. If it weren't for the layoff, I might have been there for several years. I loved the work.
Hard to say, because my "first job" and my "second job" sort of morphed together. I was working for the State Mental Health Department and got transferred to the State Department of Education. In the first job I was actually doing the work, and in the second job I was teaching others how to do it. Altogether I was there for about 8 years (1969 - 1977). My tenure at my last "regular" job was also about 8 years (1999 - 2007). I just realized that they were almost exactly 30 years apart!
Overall, my job tenure is about 6 years, which is a bit better than average for my second-career profession.
