The new company I just got hired for asks for all previous w2s from other companies I worked for. They want 2008-2013 w2 forms, is this an odd request? Anyway I sent them 2008-2012 but I can't obtain the 2013 one (because I worked under the table but i can't tell them that).do you think that because I can't obtain the one form it will affect my employement? I already got hired this is like an after hire process...any input??
They will most likely threaten to lower your salary because you could not provide proof. If they do, tell them, thanks, leave and go find another job (yes, I know how hard that is).
But then, IMHO, what you made before is none of their business and I would not have even given them that information. But that's me, I have other outs and an in-demand skill.
If you feel that you are trapped because you lack specialized skills, take the job at whatever they will offer you, then go immediately to develop (no I am not referring to college. But certainly you are welcome to go that way if you have the interest, financing, and think there is a equetable payback - for most degree required jobs, I don't believe this is true) the skills you need so you can walk ASAP.
Maybe you did a 1099 for 2013, for your taxes?? That might appease them. Also, anytime you need back info like copies of taxes, got to your local Fed Court building...to the tax department...They can print off copies of your old taxes. You may need your drivers license or other Govt ID and your SS card. Good luck on your new job.
Send it to them. Remember that they can "let you go" at anytime, if you are in a "at-will" employment state.
