that makes potential employers not want to hire you? Something that is looked upon as a negative, but you might not even be aware of it.

I have within the last 5 months, scored a handful of really good interviews that I was sure I would get. I literally expected an offer within a week, but it didn't happen.

It makes me paranoid. I wonder whether there's something that comes up in my background check that's making me look bad.
I don't have any felonies. I maintain good credit.
What else could it be?

Possibly. I keep everything I can as private as possible, and avoid having coworkers on facebook.

You obviously got wrong impression and have no idea what you were competing with. Maybe more experience or good references better than yours from past employers. All you can do is move on. Avoid critizing on public media for sure unless you want others to know even co-workers.
