I'm a bit jaded about employers but my opinion is that most employers wouldn't hesitate to fire someone if it was good for them so I say, look after your own interests and do what you need to do. Be polite, apologetic and curteous on your way out and explain that perhaps this was an unforeseen opportunity.

Left a disgusting, dirty, unhygenic pizza place after one week. Final straw was when a manager tried to make me do electrical work for the restaurant for the same crappy wage.
Mind you, not exactly a big career job or anything. But hey, it happens.
Double seconded. You can be fired for not being a strong employee, so the same rules should work in reverse. If your employer sucks, make it clear that you won't be brought down to their level and you're not afraid to treat them with the same disposability if you can't be respected as a valuable worker.

Not always possible, but when it is...
Make it a triple. In the past I've taken jobs and it's been clear that it wasn't going to last very long because it wasn't a good fit for me. But it's important to struggle through and keep the job (if possible) until you find something else.
There's a lot of truth in the old adage that it's easier to find a job when you have a job.
