The very question in an interview that makes me nervous is that employers ask me a preferred salary, which I never have at the top of my head unless I know how much they normally pay, which then I try to ask for a low as possible to avoid asking too much.
I always try to let the employer have the final say in how much he is willing to pay me, because I'd always say that I'm comfortable with whatever decision he makes. The same goes for availability, which I live at home doing nothing but studying for my field of work, so nothing important is going on, so I'm fine with whatever schedule he can throw at me. Is that a bad thing?
Flexibility is a good trait but what you are describing is being a doormat.
Research as much as possible to know what your skills are worth and make an appropriate offer (or counter-offer) instead of settling for whatever you are offered.
