You are fine, it's extremely competitive now. They can check up on you but who has the time. When I had my last interview I had papers from other companies in my folder that I looked up from other interviews. My interview then asked about them and was curious about what they offered.
It's all a dance. You want to be polite and not step on anyone's toes. When I've had contact with headhunters and hiring managers and been asked if I have any current offers, I always reply that I have several "in the works", and if pressed as to whom, I always say that out of respect and confidentiality to the other firms, that I can't disclose that.
When I get contacted by previous or new headhunters if I'm still available and I tell them that I've found employment, they always ask "with who?". I tell them that I am unfortunately unable to disclose that due to confidentiality agreements, but to keep me in their database and to keep in touch. They've all been cool about it.
I find that odd also. A couple of my past interviews were similar. "Where else have you applied, what type of jobs, where have you interviewed."
I think the other posters are right with the reasons about why this question is asked. '

I agree with this response. This is the best advice on this thread, I think. This is how I've handled this in the past. You want to seem like other companies are interested in you, whether that is true or not. Now the names of companies and any other details regarding these so called interviews/offers are really nobody's business but yours. It's confidential info. Are you going to ask the company about some of the people they're interviewing? Even if you do nobody is going to "be honest."
Just be savvy. Play the game like some of the more experienced responders to this thread are saying. Perception is reality.
