Agreed, while it's unfortunate you have to pay, the ROI is going to be less than a week, so get it.

BTW why bow out now and move on when you are this close. Was it that easy to get the offer?

I'm wondering if shelling out the $50 is worth it.

How long does it take to get a copy?

BG check companies usually have a set amount of time to "get r done", and I'm also wondering if this one (op's), will simply reject the app or just pass on the known information.

OP needs to contact the hiring manager or HR pronto.

You also need to think about this happening again. To me, I would make the investment for future peace of mind, if nothing else.

Easy solution, why are you even asking?

As for a lawyer, why? What do you think they would do? They can't make the company hire you and if the records aare destroyed, they are destroyed. You'd spend way more than $50 with attorney fees to an unknown, but likely unsuccessful, end.

Exactly. What industry are you in OP? Looks like they are one step shy of wanting your blood sample just to make sure you really are the person you claimed to be.

For me, it's been most jobs I've gotten over my adult life. The parts of what they felt they couldn't verify or get what THEY WANTED TO SEE (in other words they didn't LIKE the answer they were getting) they grilled me and harassed me to no end, every Monday like clockwork I was being hauled in to the supervisor's office and raked over the coals about one thing or another still on my background check - but the same exact (or similar and equal) things on the white employee's "background" check they did exactly the above, asked her about it ONCE and then let it drop. She's still working there and I am not.

And yes, the EEOC has a 2-year backlog of complaints in that particular region (and that was THEN. It's probably worse by now, 15 years later!)

And people have the NERVE to suggest to me that I join the armed forces to start as a J.A.G. HA!!! If I couldn't pass a CIVILIAN raking over the coals about my student loan debt - HA!!! I wish people that stupid wouldn't even talk to me!!
