Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim is suggesting that workers shift to a three-day work week. The catch: He would require 11-hour work days and workers to stay on the job until age 70 or 75.

Billionaire suggests move to 3-day work week - Jul. 21, 2014

I'm not sure I believe this might be right for everyone, however I'd LOVE to have my day over in 11 hour snippets. Shoot, I work that now sometimes five days a week.

I personally feel more productive on "short" weeks, because I feel like I have to make up for my time off. You're better rested and have those off days to look forward to.

People don't realize how quickly productivity goes down the drain when you are overworked.

Same here to all of what you posted. If I had to work "40" hours and could stretch it any way I wanted, I would work 3 12s and a 4 hour to start the nice long break off right.

Unfortunately, not everyone thinks as we do.. We used to have 4x10 for a lot of our exempts, and they took it away because it was being abused in about any fashion you could think of.

Yea. Mhmmm... Billionaires acting like they know the life of a worker bee. Maybe I'll give advice on stem cell research as well.

"Paris Hilton, Could you please give your throughout on this as well?"

How about 3- 11 hour days per week and maybe a 4 hour day then a 3 and half day weekend WITHOUT working until your 70s? No one in their right mind should want to still be going to work in their 70s.

I think people should have already earn the right to retire by mid 50s (if they choose to) after 25 years in the hell known as the workplace.

At one of my previous jobs, one of my supervisors was pushing for four 10-hour days. The problem with that is that it would have complicated scheduling. We operated 24/7. I don't have kids, so I don't know how that would have affected those who do. Since we didn't get one-hour lunch breaks, I wouldn't be able to go home and let my dog out to go potty.

Well, since I'm probably going to be working until that age anyway, I'd do it in a heartbeat (3 days on, 4 days off). I already put in 10 hour days on occasion throughout the the five day week I work. What's another hour?

You didn't pay much attention to the actual article, did you?

"...Telmex, the telecom company that has made him the world's second richest man by some estimates, now can retire before they are 50 years old in some cases. But it reported that those eligible for such early retirement are given the option of a four-day work week at full pay upon reaching retirement age.."

and:

"With three work days a week, we would have more time to relax; for quality of life," Slim was quoted as saying. "Having four days [off] would be very important to generate new entertainment activities and other ways of being occupied."

Sounds like the billionaire is a bit smarter than you?

Working only 33 hours a week would surely mean a cut in salary. I wonder how many would be willing to do it once they find out what the cut would be.

Both Mom and Dad work 33 hours each would equal one person working 66 hours. Older people could work every other day so they could rest in between. Sounds doable.

You also have to factor in daycare costs if both parents are now having to work. Where I live it's $1200 a month full-time and around $800 part-time excluding meals.
