Absolutely no big deal, we honor bereavement no questions asked, however the death?

A Dog.

ARE.YOU.KIDDING.ME

We summarily rejected his bereavement pay and now hes pulling the old Go-Slow on us...

As a side note, anyone looking for work in Louisville, KY area? I have a feeling a position will be coming open pretty soon!

Nevermind, I just ... well, just nevermind.

Yep, my wife missed three days because she had to get stitches in her finger trying to save our dachshund from a German shepherd.

That said, here's the worst I've heard (maybe it's familiar):

"See, I was posting all these stories I thought up when I was dreaming I was a manager somewhere, and I totally spaced the time - the clock on the forum doesn't adjust for daylight savings. It really won't happen again <dons apron, puts on hair net>, I'll get these next orders of chicken fries out right away, ma'am"

I did have one female off for a week for "enhancement" surgery, but we have PTO that can be used for whatever reason and I normally don't even require an excuse. Normally people give advance notice for things like the one I mentioned, but do not have to give me a reason even if they call in that morning. Usually it's something like "I don't feel well" with no detail and that's fine with me.

Working from home shouldn't be an option if 80% of your job has to be farmed out to other people.
