A little background info...I have 5 years of administrative assistant experience. My spouse is employed here, but I am still searching and wondering if I'm going about it the wrong way.

There seems to be tons of administrative assistant jobs posted at any given time in Houston, but am I looking in the right places? I know that networking is obviously the best way to get any job, however, when you're new to a city and don't know many people, it can be extremely difficult. Beyond networking (but I'll take networking ideas for new transplants!), am I more likely to find administrative assistant positions on job boards or through recruiters? I've even tried for a few on craigslist. I've been looking for about a month, so I'm not certain that I should be worried just yet, but I want to make sure my job search is the best I can make it to increase my chances. Am I wasting my time sending out dozens of resumes to job boards such as Indeed.com. Are they too saturated with job seekers. Am I more likely to snag a job through a recruiter (I heard they can be shifty)?

Thanks in advance for any input you all can give!!
