That's exactly it. It's the whole "crabs in a basket" mentality I talked about above.

"I went to college and I work at an office job making $12.00 an hour with almost no benefits...why do these people deserve $10-15/hr?"

Maybe the better question would be, "Why don't we all deserve more and expect more from our supposedly 'exceptional' nation?"
