Some people indeed dream of doing nothing all day everyday.

What's your life's goal regarding to work?

So you have lazy friends. How do you explain the fact that when a company is hiring there are hundreds of applications and lines go around the block of people applying for a job? Read the forum on Work and Employment. People want to work. Or look at Florida--the state gives 16 weeks of unemployment and the highest amount is $275 per week--so your unmotivated friends saying they can get more on unemployment definitely don't live in Florida.

Boehner is an out of touch old booze hound. He recently bought his $800k retirement home on Marco Island. He could care less about anything related to congress or the country.

That is not all, and probably not a majority though.
Wow, the right-wing propaganda apparatus really did a number on you, I see.

I hope Boehner and Repubs keep insulting the American people and belittling those caught on the losing end of our economic reality in a global market place.

Apparently people of his ilk aren't keen on winning elections.

And why should they?

If these asshat employers won't pay a living wage and expect people to work for a starvation salary, what incentive would a person have to go to work without any increase - and probably a decrease - in their standard of living?

Do you think only CEOs and corporations have the right to refuse to do something on moral or ethical principles if there is no profit in it?

So why would you expect a person to "do what's right" out of some misguided Puritan work ethic even when doing so decreases their resources and economic options?

Aside from making clear what kind of person you are with your comment..
What incentive? Growth. Learning. Climbing the position ladder. Yes, you have to swallow your pride, yes, you'll deal with a lot. But at the end, you will come up on top.

no. Of CEO couldn't afford refusing to do something, the CEO in question would either resign or go on with performing the task in question.

Because what decreases your economic option right NOW - with enough hard work - will lead to drastic increase of that exact option.

I get it. Hard work and swallowing pride sucks. Much easier to sit on the couch and complain.

Any yes, I know, my view is idealistic, but it is based off of personal observations.

Boehner is out of touch on a lot of things, but I don't really see that this is one of them.

And then you hit 55 or 60 and are shown the door. C'mon--many of the long term unemployed worked their butts off for a company and are let go at a time in their life when it is almost impossible to go find another decent job.

Sorry, I'm a progressive that finds Boston (where I live now) way too conservative, and I can only live in places like SF and Madison, WI. I can't stand social conservatism. I'm just calling it as I see it.

I would wish more politicians, on both sides, would speak the truth and their minds, more than saying what their corporate owners want them to say or what they need to say to get elected, but that is another issue. On this issue, Boehner is largely correct.

I'm not sure where you are, but here there are jobs and more jobs, yet people are not applying.
