What do you mean, "mistakenly passed you over"?

Are you saying they don't know what qualifications you actually have??

It always seemed kind of like a silly thing to do, to me. Why would I need diplomas on my wall?

A lot of teachers do and also hang their various teaching certificates. I don't.

Some schools, or school districts, require teachers to post their diplomas and certifications in their classroom. One school in my area has teachers post them in the hallway outside of their classroom. A few teachers strongly dislike that because the diploma has the date that you graduated and parents, students and anyone else passing by the room are able to figure out how old you are.

Yes. My manager knows my qualifications, but co-workers do not. Unfortunately, my work comes from senior co-workers which have no problem asking the college hires for resumes and transcripts. I'm NOT the only one this is happening to either. Technically, everyone in my organization has a bachelors degree. But, whether it's a science degree or an engineering degree is becoming a big deal.

I wouldn't if I were you. I've never worked anywhere where displaying degrees was a "thing."

I'm going to be in the minority and say if you're proud of it, hang it up! Why not? You said others have. You worked hard and want to display your achievement. I had a couple trophies in my old office from pageants I'd won, which weren't even related to my job. Possibly tacky but I didn't care I like to display my accomplishments as a reminder to myself of my hard work and the memories made along the way, not for others' benefit. Just don't do it if you're hoping it'll prove to others that you're qualified... if most of them have masters, they're not likely to take it very seriously anyways. If you want to display it for personal enjoyment, I say go for it. When the novelty wears off a bit, you can always take it down.

If it will help you in or career, then post it. If you are proud of it, post it. I've worked in places where people display their degrees, they are great conversation starters, and it doesn't hurt to remind the boss that you can learn new things.

It obviously matters to you, so go ahead and hang it. If half the people there have one, you won't stand out that much.

Believe me, there are worse things you could display at your desk.

I would hang it up, personally. I worked hard for those pieces of paper and when I look at them hanging up they remind me of the accomplishments that I have made. I have a set hanging up at home, my mom has a set, and when I get my own office I will have a set there as well.
