I just heard this after a second phone interview today from a potential employer. They said they have been looking for a while and it has been hard to find someone with my background. Needless to say I am ecstatic. I'm thinking it might be my job to lose?

Yes, although there's always a chance that someone else will come along that they like even better, so good luck but don't stop applying elsewhere until you have an offer. Good luck, hopefully you do get it.

I'd still keep applying... I apply even while I have a job. Never know what will happen to your current job or if a better one will come along. You lose nothing by applying and you aren't obligated to take the job if it isn't better than current one either.

If you really are someone with a very specific set of skills that's very uncommon then you may have some negotiating power when it comes to your compensation package.
However, statistically rare backgrounds aren't rare at all.
You should ask yourself whether your background is indeed that special.

Well it is rare for an entry level position because I am sort of switching careers.
