Since my simple question before was too hard to comprehend here is the revised edition:

Job #1) I work away from home two weeks a month! I am home two weeks a month! I make $500 more per month doing this job then job #2. The benefit is tons of days off, more pay, easier work, and of course the negative is away from home in theory.

Job #2) I live at home!! I work from 5:00pm-2:30am Mon-Friday!! I make $500 dollars less per month than job #1 and this work is harder and night shift. While I live at home when I'm home no one else is home. Kids leave for school at 7:30am, so I might see them for 1hr then go back to bed. I will see them again for 30 min after school and then of course on the weekends. The wife and I will only be in the same bed two nights a week and for but 2hrs the rest of the week.

I'm heavily leaning toward job #1 what would you do? This is after 5 months of job searching both jobs pay well one $35/hr the other $39/hr.

We don't live your life. Since the pay is fairly equal, the real question is how do YOU want to conduct your family life?

Do YOU want to be a "ship in the night" or do you want larger periods of time with your family?

I think I would take the first job and continue to look. I'd rather have two weeks of being around full time than an hour to an hour and thirty a day, with weekends where I'm on a different sleep schedule.

Good points above. I would talk with your spouse (and maybe the kids too, if they're old enough) and get their input.

If you're heavily leaning towards #1, what is making you hesitate?

I'd personally go with #1 but that's simply because I can't function during the overnight.
