I'm curious, who dressed up for Halloween today and what was your costume? Is it a big deal at your workplace (Halloween party, costume contest, etc)? Did you see anyone wearing a NSFW costume?

I always enjoy seeing salesclerks, baristas, waitstaff, etc in costumes this time of year. I got a latte earlier and the barista was dressed up as a Marshmallow Peep, which made me smile. And I saw an absolutely fantastic Cruelle de Ville walking down the street earlier. Best costume I've seen in years, it looked like something from the live action "101 Dalmatians", very professional looking.

I haven't dressed up in years - a few people do at my company and I think there was a costume contest of some sort, but it just doesn't seem the best thing to do at this point in my career path. It can be tricky enough to navigate a male dominated industry as a woman, it's often hard to earn respect. I'm reluctant to do anything that might compromise that.

We have a lunchtime contest every year, and this was the most pitiful turnout ever. Maybe 12-13 people participated and only about double that as spectators. This is an office of 600 plus another 1,300 people at nearby locations that could have come. This morning on the way in to work I saw no one at all in costume on the streets or in the bus. I suspect that Halloween is losing it's appeal in the workplace.

I'm trying to use up vacation days and stayed home, so I haven't seen any costumes today.

The doorbell should be ringing any moment, though.

I worked from home today so I didn't dress up. I haven't seen any costumes except the cute little kid pics they showed on the news but I had a lot to do so I was chained to the computer/phone all day. I think I am more interested in the candy right now. lol

The company that I'm at now encourages employees to bring their kids into the office on Halloween. Each floor (with the exception of legal's floor and the C-suite) decorates their spaces, often pretty elaborately, and the kids and their parents go from floor to floor trick or treating. It's a lot of fun. There were some really good costumes today, but the one that stood out was the fully-outfitted Darth Vader, complete with light saber and voice-altering device.

It's a very big deal at my office and lots of fun. There's a costume contest, and we even have a contest between branches for the best costumes. I didn't see any NSFW costumes.
