If you woke up one day and found out you
had the following flaws what would you do.......
1. No job
2. Live in a bad area where jobs are hard to get
3. No car
4. Credit score so bad it stink
5. Little to no real friends
6. Little to no money.
7. Over the age of 40
And don't say be homeless or on welfare for a answer.
I wanna see if people can think of a more beneficial way out of this mess.
there are a lot of resources out there for low income people. TONS of federal money goes into funding these programs. look into getting some gov aid until you get on your feet. do whatever you need to do -- deliver newspapers, walk dogs. you can overcome this!
You have to adapt to the environment you live in. If that means hustling, and putting bread on the table do it. Not everyone has parents that paid for a college and got a 50k/year job right out of college. That's only a small portion of society, that is not the norm for everyday Americans. You have to grind if that means making $10-15/hr for a year or two then you deal with it. In my field one could start at $12-15/hr as an entry level with a associates degree and be making $20-25/hr two years later. If you get a bachelors it would be in the range of $25-35, that's pretty solid for two years experience and a degree. Not to mention the high earning potential if you freelance/run a side business on-top of a full-time job.
If you woke up one day and found out you
had the following flaws what would you do.......
1. No job
Start looking for one. Internet, door to door, day labor, networking, cutting grass, cleaning houses, handyman work, whatever it takes. At this point the type of job doesn't matter. Get a job, and start looking for better jobs while you bring in some income.
2. Live in a bad area where jobs are hard to get Get through finding a job, and save every penny you can to move to another location with more opportunities. Once you land a job there, pack up and go. Rent a room, rent an apartment, stay with friends or family, etc... until you can get your own place.
3. No car Public transit when available. Walk or ride a bike if possible. Contact places like the Salvation Army who will sometimes help those who need transportation. Call friends or family and see if anyone minds giving you a ride until you can save up enough to get basic transportation.
4. Credit score so bad it stink Last of your concern right now. Right now focus on getting your job and getting housing and transportation lined up. Once everything is back in motion, then begin trying to rebuild your credit. It's already bad, and fixing it isn't short term so focus on short term goals first.
5. Little to no real friends
[b] Make some. Meet people at your job, at the bus stop, or your neighbors. They could be contacts that can help you get ahead later down the road. Acquaintances are fine. You don't have to be best friends.
6. Little to no money. See above.
7. Over the age of 40
[b] Irrelevant
And don't say be homeless or on welfare for a answer.

Ok, so above I've answered in bold. Now, I will try to explain better.
You need to create a plan and set some goals IN WRITING. Follow these goals.
Find a job. Use every resource available to you. Internet, newspaper, Craigslist, neighbors, acquaintances, walk ins, etc.. Think outside the box. Can't get a decent job? Get two decent part time jobs. Just bring in some income for the short term. At this point your credit is a mess and won't repair itself overnight. So you need to lay some ground work to dig out of the hole. I would possibly recommend not paying that debt for the time being until you can get your basic needs met.
Save every penny you can to put towards housing and transportation. Some apartments will work with you on rent and put you on an income based rent schedule. Find one. Once housing is taken care of, find transportation. If you're handy you may be able to buy someone's non-running car really cheap and fix it to drive. Or..... find out if a local Salvation Army can donate you a vehicle (some do) to get you to work. Try a RideShare program if nothing else. If none of those work, try to find housing close to your job so you can walk.
Once those two necessities are met, start saving and start communicating with your debtors. Let them know that you can pay XX per month towards what you owe. Find this amount by adding up your income, subtracting out your expenses. Start out saving 5-10% of your paycheck. The rest goes to collectors. Once you have paid some of this down, increase your savings.
In the meantime you should be really busting it at work to get noticed so you can advance. Take any opportunity you can find if it pays more.
It's a hard road, but you can make it.
