I haven't had a chance to travel for the longest time now, and the idea of visiting another country and living there for a while sounds very appealing to me. Unfortunately, I do not have the funds to just drop everything and go visit someplace else for 6-12months. I thought teaching abroad might be a good option and opportunity for me to visit a new place while making some money as well.
I did some research, and it is still not clear to me what are the requirements to find such a job. It seems like certain countries are more strict than others (Japan and Korea for example), yet things are a lot easier if you plan to teach in Latin America.
About me:
I speak English fluently, but it was not my first language and do have an accent. (I've lived in the U.S for half of my life). I am caucasian but with a darker skin tone (olive). No college degree but some college. Assuming I take the TEFL certification, do I qualify for such a job and if so in which countries? Is there a legitimate company I could contact to get more information and/or get certified to teach?
