Depends on the job and what is being asked. I normally get called on vacation for "urgent" issues but it seems everything in the world is urgent. However I seem to get more peace and quite during non-work hours on a normal day to day basis. That is, I normally don't get bothered from 5pm-8am unless there is a real emergency (something's busted).

For a general request that someone happens to send after hours, middle of night or on weekend that is not urgent, I might look at it but would never reply or complete the task after hours/weekend.

A good rule of thumb.. if you need to be available 24/7 and actively checking all the time, then you deserve to be paid minimum wage 24/7/365.

Say minimum wage is $9/hr.

24*7*365*7 = $78624/yr. Anything less than that, refuse to answer outside of work hours.

I am not a manager. I don't get paid a manager's salary. As such, I work 8 hours a day and that is it. My email does not forward to my phone, and I don't take my work computer with me. I don't get paid to work more than 40 hours a week, so I don't.
