I know we can ask employer before hand, but I find that kinda tricky sometimes. Sometimes organization has good reputation, but then behind the doors, there can be surprises... I know there is Glassdoor.com. Is there anywhere else I can ask a current or previous employee or something? Any good suggestions or advice on that?
Given the fact that online interactions are becoming less and less anonymous, a site like glassdoor.com is probably your best bet. Also, asking people who may be in the know can be helpful.
Glassdoor can be a start, however the caution there is that most people seem to only comment when they have a beef with the company. I'd definitely read the employee reviews but take them with a grain of salt.
