You didn't list my answer, which is none. I work in front line healthcare - and hospitals never close. I'm personally taking December 25 off, but I'm working December 24 and 26.
We'll probably get out early on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve since I think the market closes early those days (our holidays are based off the NYSE)
I work for a very small independent graduate school, and our offices are traditionally closed for the week between Christmas and New Year's (obviously no students are around at this time anyway). This year I imagine it will be extra-quiet as we've been told that we won't have access to the building--they're refinishing the floors or something.
GM Ford Chrysler american automakers and they are paid days because of the UAW contract. Just like european automakers have their union. Been like this for years and if you work it you are paid holiday pay witch is 3X you salary. Only skilled trade work it though like electricians, pipe fitters, tool and die , millwrights, and hilo repair. The plants are never closed up always open 365 days a year. Always people there the assembly is turned off but thats it.
I work for a public transportation agency, so the offices are only closed on Christmas and New Year's. However, operations people do have to work those days because they obviously can't shut the facilities down.
I'm in an office, though, so I get the holidays off.
