I received a letter of job offer in the mail but I can't remember if they called me as well. I was hired at the same company twice - first time was in '91 and I had a message in the answering machine to call them back. Second time was a re-hire in another department, and they likely called me right before I received the letter. Funny - I remember the phone call for the first job but not the second.

Having coffee at Starbucks with my new boss. He offered me the position after discussing some points over coffee.

From my prior position... at home. Got interviewed in the morning and offered later in the afternoon. Rarely in my line of work do people get hired on the spot because there's always a panel interview and reference checks after if they liked you. I just recently got an offer and it was the same as the above. Interviewed and said that I have a number of other interviews and they called me up an hour later saying they don't want me to interview anywhere else lol. They did however do a reference check a week before my interview which has never happened to me before.

I interviewed for my current job in February of this year. Got positive feedback from both a friend on the inside and the recruiter (internal) the next day, then they set up a phone screen with the GVP of the department for the end of that week. In that phone screen, she told me they were going to hire me, it was just a question of figuring out which team to put me on, and she asked me to have patience with them while they sorted that out.

Well, it ended up taking quite a bit of time, the recruiter was really great about reaching out to me and scheduling weekly/bi-weekly check-ins where he would tell me as much as he knew.

So I knew the job was mine, it just came down to a matter of the offer and timing etc. That much I found out while I was still at my old job. In April, my entire department was laid off in one fell swoop, and I had 3 weeks of unemployment and uncertainty.

I got an email from the recruiter asking me if we could schedule time to discuss my offer. I was in my living room when that came in...the call happened sitting at my mom's kitchen table (I was at her house taking one of her pets to an appointment since I wasn't working).

Long long journey. So there were a lot of locations in which I celebrated haha. But mom's table, which has been the site of many victories and failures in life, seemed fitting for the primary.

I was always told by the head honcho, right after the interview process, that I would get an offer. But, be careful about this, as exuberance may lead you to make a hasty decision without all the facts in hand and set realistic of expectations for yourself.

In some way, I always admired mediocre people who could blissfully jump their way up the ladder without blinking an eyelash as to their qualifications.
