Once he gets an offer, simply give a two weeks notice and call it a day.

Keep in mind, references are priceless, and his boss clearly thinks highly of him, so I wouldn't vent my frustrations during the resignation. Just thank them for the opportunity they provided to help him advance on to something else.

I understand what you mean, but with his case, he would get it because he's the only medical biller that can do the job right, but the main concern is how to request it nicely without offending the employer.

He wants to leave his current job in good term, but not sure how to proceed. He's thinking about change from full time to a part time first, so the employer is able to find someone, and he can train them while working part time for them.
