So everyone tells me that you don't move somewhere unless you have a job lined up. And sure, that makes perfect sense. However, when you submit job applications, especially to staffing companies they already dismiss you because you are from out of state. I usually get the standard, "give us a call when you have finally relocated to the area." So what do I do? I know some people might say, don't include your location on your resume, but at the same time I feel that it is important to include that so I don't waste my time and money traveling to an interview for nothing.

Me? After undergrad when I only had internships for experience, I packed up and moved to a new city without a job and made it work. There were many many many months of working crappy retail/food service/etc work while volunteering and interning more, but I would never have gotten a professional job without being there.

That changed as I had experience years later.

Is that ALL they say? It's simplistic and overly cautious (for many).

So what do I do?
I as in the singular you? With some cash, some skills and the willingness to do some
other things until the 'ideal' job materializes... you pack up and go there.

otoh... Not single? Kids? Mortgage? Not many other skills? No cash?
Not willing to take a 'get by' job until... Stay put.
