I work much better when I'm not under pressure. Micromanagement is my nemesis. Can you please help me find my next job?

Most professional jobs? There are the odd ball managers that micro manage, but aren't most of the professional jobs autonomous? There's a reason they treat you as a professional, aka you know how to do your job and can do it by yourself.

Unfortunately I have a Sociology degree, so I'm not sure how much of a professional job I can get

and my wife is pregnant so I'm kinda freaking out.

There is a certain WalMart (ironically next to a tweeker motel) that hires the slowest people they are there long term and no one seems to get in trouble.

Seriously, you have to have a micromanaging supervisor to bother you so one where you are your own boss comes to mind.

If commissioned sales for yourself is not going to suit you, maybe isolated park ranger, my friend spends up to six months alone as an oil rigger, but it has trashed his tolerance for stupidity.

Do you have anything to invest into going into business for yourself? Real Estate, Accounting, or even managing others might work for you.

Find a job with a non micromanaging manager. With a baby on the way, you need some stability for the next while. I've had a mix of micromanaging and non micromanaging supervisors and understand. Hope you get a nice supervisor or one that is in the field a lot!

High pressure jobs and being micromanaged are two different issues. You can have a very easy going type of job, but a micromanager can make your life hell. By the same token, there are lots of jobs where you're left on your own, but you better meet the demands of your clients/deadlines.

As for micromanagement - that's just finding the right person to work under. A much harder issue to identify and prevent...
