But how is it so common that people on here keep referring themselves as one of the "final" candidates? The government is not suppose to provide any more contact after the interview until a final decision is made, either a yes or a no. Not a you're still in the running so consider yourself a "finalist".

I don't remember the exact phrase he used, but about a week after the interview my husband was called and told that a decision was made, and once it was officially approved by the workforce management division they would contact the people who were given interviews with the final yes/no decision. We've been told by other NWS hiring managers in the past that typically less than 100 people are referred, and less than 10 people get interviews, so I might have just extrapolated the "finalist". But we've definitely been contacted after interview before decision by multiple lead meteorologists with the NWS.
