Unfortunately its the start of the paper trail to get you fired. I was put on a PIP in my last job. It was the most stressful, hated 4 months of my career. I had these weekly review meeting were the manager nit picked and even at times invented new things to get me on from the previous week. Honestly I wish I wouldnt have signed the darn thing.
I got put on PIP for 3+ months and then let go.. the weird part was that I got 3/5 (meets expectations) on the monthly reviews during those three months.. i got put on the PIP bc i got 2/5 for two months straight.. so I really do think PIP is just a key step in the paper trail to fire you..
For the 17th time, a PIP always leads to a dismissal. It was your warning to start looking, seriously, for a new job.
But you can take the fool's way out, burn yourself out trying to please them, and enter your new job with broken self esteem and a negative impression of yourself. Or get out while you can, with at least your self-esteem in tact, and no "illegible for rehire" on your record.
