How do you know the time is now to think about changing jobs or careers? How do you know if it's burnout, needing a vacay or if you want something new? (Trust me if I go for something new, I'll stay here before I find a new one. )

You probably don't know. It's either a slam dunk or it's not. If it's a slam dunk you wouldn't be creating this thread. If it isn't then you're taking a calculated risk.

I usually take a few days to think things over. At first, a new job may sound great, but you may be only looking at the potential benefits. Impulsive decision = bad news. A few weeks ago I had a job offer that had a wage slightly higher than my current. After thinking about it, I realized I had never worked at a place that invested so much time and energy in developing my skills and knowledge. In a few years, I may very well be worth considerably more on the job market if I stay put. Had I jumped at the new job, who knows what kind of menial, dead end job tasks I would be doing.

It's time to change when you hate what you're doing..It might take some time but it might be worth it.
