So I am on my new job and I don't like the environment. The work/balance is not that good and my co-workers are not that friendly. The only reason I'm still here is because my salary is 120k and I need to pay bills. But If I filed for unemployment I still get to pay my bills ($640 weekly) until I find a job that I look forward to.

I don't know if my mindset is wrong. I think I'm suppose to like my job, not hate it. or is it all about the money?

My friends tell me, for that salary, I should just work, and shut up. What you guys think?

What in the.....

Yeah, sure, quit, collect unemployment (pigs will fly before it's accepted), and practice career suicide. We'll see you back here in a few.

OK, serious tone now. Do you want to just scrape by? I think most people on here will tell you that no, money is not everything. But just collecting unemployment until you find a job you "actually look forward to" is supremely immature and unprofessional.

If it really makes you unhappy, put a resume together, add your recent work experience, and shop yourself around.

If you can earn the same elsewhere, why not move to where you are happy.

If you can't earn the same elsewhere, then you need to decide to yourself how much is it worth to you to be happy where you work?

Don't just quit. That's not professional and would reflect badly on an interview.

I don't need to quit actually, just by telling them what I don't like, I think they will terminate me.

Do you really hate the job or did you just find out you can get enough unemployment to pay your bills and not have to work?

I doubt any company will terminate you because you don't like it. They will let you resign, because then they don't pay unemployment.

People work jobs they hate for a fraction of what you make so, suck it up, buttercup. If you are that miserable, apply for other jobs. If my two choices are to feel sorry for you or to agree with your friends, I agree with your friends.

you also only get unemployment based on how much you actually earned over a year. so if you only worked there for 3 weeks, you won't be collecting any unemployment.

No 3 months.. and no I don't want to get terminated because I know I'm getting $646. I just don't know if this is the path I want. I'm between money vs career
