Just out of curiousity.....what sort of places are you going to eat? Would would a typical mean run a single person?

$15 or so? Or $30-40?

OK, now I understand what her complaint is. I agree with her and wouldn't like this either. She doesn't want to subsidize someone's expensive entree, dessert and drinks. Makes total sense. Why not have everyone pay for their own lunch and split the cost of the birthday person's check?

I'd have to agree here as well.

If every Bday lunch was a evenly split bill, i'd lose distaste for it as well. I try to eat healthy so my lunch tends to be light.


Nothing sucks more than subsidizing a coworkers lunch because they got a $40 meal with apps and you got a $7 salad and water.

"Bill's $47 plus a tip. We'll leave $58 so you owe me $28 please."

Depends... I went to Outback this year for my b-day. My bill was around $10 split among 12. It can range so there's no way to tell what the typical would be. Lot's of varying tastes in the group.
