OP you don't take any job to avoid a gap because as you can see it leads to being miserable. You create a list of jobs you are willing to do until you get that job you really want in the future. Also stop getting caught up in gaps because if you are applying to the right jobs then the gaps won't matter at all. My longest gap was 12 months and I still was able to get called for interviews and eventually hired.

All job methods CAN work, it's just about what method works for you and not every method does indeed work for you.
No one should accept any job because of a gap because it leads to a couple of negative situations.
1. Takes away from finding another job
2. You start to go to work miserable
Yea, but becoming unemployed for any period of time contaminates your resume and makes it harder to find another job. Everything is a lose-lose these days.

Yeah. I am not saying you'll jump up from being a 9.50 employee wherever but if the jobs you apply for because you're specialized you do not get into, you have to take something. That or you'll have a gap. Any good job expert will tell you a Crap job > no job at all to hold out. That and artists some states wanting you to accept any job offer out being kicked off unemployment.

That's why you create a list of jobs that you would be willing to do until that preferred job comes along. Then you be employed at a job you like and can focus on achieving your long term employment goals.

What if you barely have any free time with which to focus on increasing your skills? What if you work 10-12 hours per day plus a 3-hour commute? That's where I'm at now.
