Lets build a list
Lets build a list of recession proof jobs or lets just say jobs with incredibly high job security because there is no such thing as never . This could probably help job seekers or college students. Be sure to put your reasoning for the job. I'll start the list.
1. Law enforcement (pretty much all types of law enforcement job opportunities) - Crime happens everyday at all times and people will always be needed to monitor and supervise criminals. Plus crime is always a major issue within politics.

Yep, folks in healthcare that are directly involved in patient care are great options if you have the temperament for it. You always need someone to give treatments to patients, so nurses and respiratory therapists and radiology techs are going to be needed.

Truck Drivers - and not just anyone w/ a CDL. Someone that is DEPENDABLE and can pass a drug test and clean driving record. Amazing how hard it is to find people like that nowadays.

I don't think a sales or administative assistant position is recession proof. I could see a company cutting back on sales reps and reducing the amount of administrative assistants if necessary.IMO

Since we are now in the knowledge based economy, anything that has to do with knowledge. If you notice they also pay very well for the amount of education needed to do the job. Examples are Nursing, Engineering, Specialized IT, Security and Safety based positions (Not security officers.)

I think my job is pretty safe... I work with the mentally handicap as an personal care aide (like an CNA without the training). Also it for the state, and not an company which is a plus.
