Lol, like I'd lie about such a banal story.

Being offered a 'management' position doesn't mean she's going to be the next CEO. It means slightly more responsibility than the average worker. Sticking with it (and at that point, probably doing more than just showing up), CAN lead to better things.

The point is that many, if not most, people who are career minimum wage employees, are a result of their own circumstances. Whether it be by conscious choice or financially imprudent decisions.

I'm not saying she would be a CEO, just that showing up on time would be the only thing that would get her to become promotion-bate even when she was "doing her job (not particularly well.)"

The MINIMUM wage will always be the MINIMUM wage. So if you get a boost from $7.50 to $15/hr, and now $15/hr is MINIMUM, then you will not have the same buying power of someone making twice the minimum - no matter if that minimum wage is $5, $15 or $30.

Unfortunately, this is not a concept that people who choose a minimum wage job (through poor choices or other reasons) can wrap their minds around.
