I currently work full time as a sales associate at Radio Shack (and no were not going to close) making about $11 with commission and I live at home.
The other position pays $14 an hour plus commission and is in Irvine with a recruiting company called Collabera. I can't find any employee input/feedback on Collabera. They seem have a high sales quota which is four recruits a month.
The position was open three months ago when I passed it up and now I interviewed again and have been offered the position again. I wonder if Collabera has a high turnover rate since the position opened again.
The Irvine office also just opened and it may have replaced an office in Pasadena.
I also don't know if I'd like recruiting because it's inside sales.
I like what I am doing at Radio Shack and I like my manager and co-workers. I've only been at Radio Shack for three weeks now and I am worried by three to four months I won't know all the tech knowledge and will be let go. Maybe I am just worrying over nothing at Radio Shack because one of my co workers says you just need to know the basics and the rest make the customer think you know what you are talking about.
I currently am meeting my sales goals at Radio Shack, but it sucks because all our commission is down since Sprint moved in our stores to do phone sales. I honestly don't know how Sprint is going to last in our stores because pre-paid and contract phone sales are so rare. At least no more free tech support for phones!
Is it safer and better to stay where I am at? Everyone is telling me "a devil you know is better than a devil you don't know"
To me, $11 an hour + is better for a job you like than $14 an hour for the short time you would probably last at that recruiting company.
Well I don't know if I'd stay in recruiting. I like the customer interaction I have right now (most days good). I want to be at least a year at Radio Shack then transfer to a real entry level sales job. Ideally I want to be in Ventura County. I know I need to present good sales number on my resume. Rather I need to know all the tech stuff or not to get there. Within a year, I might transfer to best buy. I think best buy would be easier, but it could be just part time?
i have been informed the pay is now $38,000 a year plus commission and 40 hrs a week 8:30 to 5:30pm.
yes... and do they stick by it? you can be informed that it is $38k... and 40 hours, that doesn't mean they can't try to give you more work, or fire you if you fail to complete it
how does everyone know about collabera but me? also, apparently that four recruits per month has changed but he didn't tell me what the new minimum quota is.
