Hard to explain but I'll try.

I don't mean someone like a student going for his Ph.D in a niche field. I mean jobs that involve looking things up or trying to find whats wrong in order to solve a problem.

Another way to look at it is a job where you gather information so someone else can use it such as a co-worker or customer.
