Delagate. Inform some poor slob that the boss wants this done right away and expect him to follow you to the box. If he doesnt, give him the look and just say, "Didn't you hear me? Get over here" and turn around again. Become an extension of the boss instead of the boss' patsy.
My boss keeps asking me to assemble these huge office chairs and move heavy boxes around. I have a shoulder injury and was told by a doctor to refrain from heavy lifting. I've gone to physical therapy for this for months at a time and my boss knows this.
I even told him I can't be moving the boxes.
BUT, have you provided your employer with the medical restriction note from the doctor?

But even without a doctor's note, if she is not able to physically move a 48 lb box, she just can't do it no matter what.
OP, can you break the tasks to make it more manageable? Have someone else, who is physically able, to move it to wherever it needs to be and then you assemble it?
Um, that's not the same thing at all? Anyone can get coffee, it's not physically challenging. However, not everyone can perform physical labor and lift heavy things. This is why even places such as wal mart list "must be able to lift ___ pounds" and subsequently why I applied to this job. Because there were no lifting requirements.
Why do you have to lift the entire box?
Cut the box off from around the chair that generally comes in pieces and take out one smaller piece at at time.
I have put many pieces of office furniture together and moved many pieces of house and office furniture pieces and I am only 5'1" (sort of).
Either find a way to adapt to the situation and get the chairs put together or flat out tell him you are not going to do it.
PS ~~ I had rotator cuff surgery and had a bone removed from my shoulder......
You don't need to read the mind of a 110 lb woman to know she probably can't lift half her weight...
I get asked to lift half my weight... I do it at the gym as well...
And he might not know how much she weighs
If it is boxes related to her job, why would he ask someone else to move it? And if she needs help, why doesn't she just seek help from a free person? And why does she think just because there are guys around, that they can move it? Maybe they have medical issues as well?

... especially when the office is full of men.
there's also a room full of people who can do your job as well and waiting for you to quit...

Some people are not weightlifters... I just wanted to point out that it should be obvious she is too "little" to be expected to do heavy lifting. I would feel absurd as the boss asking a small girl to lift that much weight.

Hey! I am 5'2" and weigh 118 pounds. I knew going into my job that there was a 70lb lifting requirement and I do it wearing 4" heels! She could probably lift it were not for the bad shoulder.

and not everyone is a wimp... I see girls lifting 50lbs each day at the gym that aren't "muscular". Even if she weighed 200lbs, and it was 1/4 instead of 1/2 of weight, the box is going to weight 50 lbs regardless of how much the person lifting it weighs.
again, why does she feel like she doesn't need to do it because she is a woman? I get why she can't if it is a medical issue, but being a woman along doesn't mean she can't do it.
She can use a chair/find someone to help/etc. She wasn't told to do it "alone" or "quickly". Just get the crap box moved and get back to doing the job. If she needs help, then she needs help, fine, understandable. Her being a women has nothing to do with it, nor is her weight. And if she can't do it, she can't do it. That is also understandable but she needs to inform her boss so he knows it as well. It seems like she is playing up the dainty woman role when she mentions there are other guys around. So what? it makes no difference who else is around.
