This poll is intended for people in the US working traditional Mon-Fri jobs. 4th of July falls on a Saturday this year, which is already a day off for most of us. How is your employer handling 4th of July this year? Are you getting another day off, or are you getting cheated? You can answer the poll, and can comment further here if you want.
To answer my own question: My employer is giving us the day off on Friday, July 3, in lieu of the holiday. When a holiday falls on a Saturday, they give us off the Friday before; when a holiday falls on Sunday, they give us off the Monday after. I am glad that they don't cheat us out of holidays when they fall on the weekend!

We always get Friday if a holiday falls on Saturday, Monday if it falls on Sunday. Thanksgiving is always on Thursday but we also get the day after off for a 4 day weekend.
I had given the staff (subject to management scheduling) the option of taking off the Monday through Friday for the weeks of June 29th or the week of July 6th WITH PAY essentially giving everyone a 9 day vacation on me. I built this into the yearly planning so it's just another planned expense absorbed through the year. I do this for Employee Appreciation Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving and for Christmas/New Years.
