i currently have a great job, great pay and benefits. only problem is i am not getting along that well w/ my boss. her expectations are ridiculous. the person i replaced left after 8 months b/c of "unrealistic workload" and i feel the exact same way. i feel like things are deteriorating and i found a few possible jobs but they all pay about $10K less. would you change jobs in this situation?

yes, your happiness is worth it.

but only you can determine how much of a lifestyle change that $10k will incur.

How long have you been there?

Bosses come and go. Why throw away an otherwise good thing?

There is no simple answer to your question. How much do you know about the alternative positions and how do you know you will get along better with the other bosses? As others said, your current boss may leave one day and someone else may replace her. However, if your life becomes miserable, you may eventually get fired. Better leave before that happens.

my boss just got tenured and will be there forever. financially, it's not great to take a 10K loss but we will still be ok. and i know i don't know if i will get along with future bosses but so far i have had a great track record of getting along w/ all my bosses except for this one. i've been here 9 months. my last job i was there 7 years and only left b/c i moved states.

You're the only one who can answer whether YOUR situation is bad enough for you to leave.
Can you transfer or get promoted away from this boss?

I don't know that I'd leave of my own accord....unless you get to the point where you say to YOURSELF: "you know what? I don't CARE that I'm making less. I don't have to look at THAT biotch's face any more. I can always make more money again."....OR...you get to the OTHER SIDE of your frustration to where you don't care and go in and let how she is just roll off your back. ((USUSALLY -- that takes a REAL long process, until your beaten down for months or years to get to the broken spirit point where you just don't care. So that could take a while -- to get to the "I just can't cry anymore, I'm done and over it" kind of acceptance where you go in and don't give a $#!t

I did the opposite. I stayed in a low-paying job because I adore my boss and we have a great working relationship. I'd rather enjoy coming to work every day for a bit less $ than work for a jerk for more $.
