On last Wednesday we had a new hire start working. She's an older Filipino woman and is super nice and very friendly with everyone. I am currently on the same break schedule that she is. Here's the issue. When she eats she smacks her lips LOUDLY and chews with her mouth open.
One week and it's already the topic of closed door discussions all around the office. Yesterday a couple of ladies actually got up and left mid-lunch, saying they would finish eating in their cubicles. They NEVER eat in their cubicles- we're not even suppose to eat in our cubicles. If it's nice out today, I'm going to eat at the picnic table outside even though it's the smoking area...
One more issue. Yesterday she brought leftover dinner from the night before and heated it in the microwave. You guessed it- it was fish. PHEW! The 'unwritten' rule in most offices I have worked in is "No stinky food in the break room microwave." So how do you deal with this? Tell HR and let them deal with it? Pretty sure HR already knows about it!
deal with it as in IT ISN'T YOUR BREAK ROOM, just ignore it... why do you even care?
if you don't like fish, then go eat at a different time... or go somewhere else. Why should she be the one to accommodate you?
I'd just rather tell HR to remove the microwave and all of you can eat cold food and suffer together. IF you can't act like adults, then I guess collective punishment like kids get is appropriate?

1) We're on scheduled breaks.
2) There's already a sign above the microwave saying "NO POPCORN!" because it stinks up the break room. Just seems common courtesy that one not stink up a common room everyone uses.
maybe discuss it with her instead of talking behind her back like 6th graders. you could just get over it or eat somewhere else. No, better to just talk behind peoples back about petty dumb stuff

Who can diplomatically tell someone to chew with their mouth closed? If I had to eat my meal across the table from someone who did that, I'd want to vomit. Nothing more disgusting.
