i just started a new job a month ago. for the first week or so i was meeting my manager daily for a couple hours a day for training. she is in a different city, about 45 minutes away from where my office is. so after the initial training we have not been meeting regularly and she's been busy with a new project and then has had some family issues. i feel very lost to what i should be doing. there are some very specific things i'm supposed to do related to tracking and databases but i have no idea how to use these systems. it's been 5 weeks and i feel like i still don't know how to do many basic things. i spoke w/ the person who had the position before me and he asked me if i had been receiving a lot of support from my manager b/c he said when he was in the position, he often did not get much support. i'm starting to get worried about this as some deadlines are coming up and i still don't know what i'm doing and there's no one around me i can ask.

Ask as many questions as you can until you get the information you need.

You are in a tough position. I was in your shoes the last 2 1/2 months.

Sucks. but you've got to get the job done.

Is there anything at all in writing to help you?

Can you ask the person who held the job first to help you?

Many databases/systems have a help feature.

You need to be pro active here.
