We were making Samsung TVs right in New Jersey for a good 5 to 6 years.
Then Samsung along with most of the other TV manufacturers, took off for Mexico too.
They didn't like the cost of our Medical Insurances, nor the cost of our wages.
Plus, they didn't like Unions, although we didn't have one there.......they insisted we should not.
We opened up that trade agreement, and all our businesses went off to the cheap labor of Mexico. One day, there won't be any manufacture jobs here. How sad.
Below is the response I just received from Hershey:
"Thank you for contacting The Hershey Company.
Our history in the town goes back more than 100 years, and we are committed to continue making the world’s best chocolate products in Hershey, Pennsylvania. In fact, the company operates - and will continue to operate - three factories in Hershey.
The Hershey Company is making changes to our global manufacturing network to ensure that our company remains competitive in the global marketplace for the long-term. When these changes are completed, 90 percent of the items that Hershey sells in the United States and Canada will continue to be made in these countries. And we will continue to make Hershey’s milk chocolate bars, Hershey’s Kisses and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Hi, The people of U.S. needs to Boycott companys like Hershey to make them stay in U.S. and not to move to another country. I will never buy Hershey candy again because of them moving to Mexico.
You started off with a good concept here, John.
For targeting with such a boycott does require easy information and coordination. Does anyone know of a website that tracks companies that pose as primarly "American" companies that are actually slipping jobs out and imports in their place? And maybe a list of real American alternates to these fake branded products?
As mentioned on this thread -- e.g. Ford, Hersheys . . , who else?
Great post supernerdgirl! There are other real good US chocolates. I've started making an effort to check things before I buy anymore. I do confess to REALLY liking my Honda car, however.

Don't feel guilty about that Honda! It was probably made in America (Ohio) by well-paid Americans. Same goes for Toyotas, Nissans, and most other Japanese brands. A lot of "American" cars aren't.
