obviously, you can have a major jerk boss of either gender, but, do you normally have a preference?

I have had male and female bosses and I can honestly say I prefer a male boss simply because they are suckers for a pretty young face. Honestly, I just feel that some men are more understanding and sympathetic towards women. Both male bosses that I have had if I said I needed to run out or would be a little late, they would ask if anything was wrong or if they could help me with something, all I had to say was no and they would say ok and that would be the end of it. Whereas the women bosses that I have had would give me a questionable look and would actually call me on my cell phone when I was away from the office

Guy Boss for me! I get so worried that I will offend a Lady Boss by doing something that could be considered harrassment like staring at (.)(.)

I guess itdepends on what she looks like. I wouldn't mind working for a lady that looks hot.

Depends on the level of management. Im a guy and I love having female bosses. Its a lot of things you can get away with if you have a female boss, over a male.

Thats because they know your game. They know not to trust you. Men are stupid like that & you take advantage of their weakness. This is the same reason I love having a female as my boss. Compliments to hair, jewelry, shoes never go unnoticed. Jumping to everything they ask me do shows them I respect them...even if I dont. Whenever I have a female boss its only a matter of time til I am making my own schedule and even getting overtime some weeks. With a male boss I gotta do everything by the book. Cant come late cant leave early no matter how well I do my job. Ive even tamed women that many would consider a 8itch. Compliments...are the key to success especially for older women.

Doesn't matter. I've seen bad bosses of both genders.

I'd prefer a competent boss who at least follows company guidelines with maybe a little leeway for common sense judgments.

Men, for the simple reason that they're more rational.

Default Personality & Character Matters - Not Gender

I know the poll wants responders to state a generality. And I would do that if I could. However, I have worked for males and females and to be very honest, there has been no net difference between the two in terms of my personal experience dealing with the people I have reported to.

I just want a boss that is very competent, fair, and doesn't make my work life miserable. I can say that I have worked for a couple who had the potential to be great bosses, however, the powers that be molded them into people I came to dislike. Yes, they were females, but maybe in the line of work I do, female bosses are more common.

It makes no difference if they're jerks.

Give me a competent, effective boss any day. Guy or gal.
