My daughter works in an office for a financial adviser. She was hired to do office work on hourly pay. 35 hours per week. Then he decided he wanted to do seminars to promote his business and told her he would switch to her salary to compensate for the few extra hours. (4 seminars per month). I think he gave her an additional $200.00 per month. Now he is asking her to work after hours at his home like working Christmas party. Two times he requested her to take him and pick him up from the airport in her car. The airport is in Los Angeles about 2 hour or more each way. Sunday it took 5 hours to get home. He put gas in her car. She told him today that driving him to the airport was not part of her job and he said that she is always on the clock and has no set hours and no days off. Is this really possible? He expects her to be in the office at 9am sharp and work at least until 4pm Monday - Friday. Any ideas of what she can do. Usually he is a very nice boss until this month when he has become very demanding, Thanks

She can just quit and work elsewhere.

December is generally demanding for financial advisors as they have to help all their clients with last minute decisions before the year closes out. My suggestion would be to stick to it and see how January is (but prepare for another uptick in March) or just move on to another job.

Best of luck.

Is she getting paid for the hours she works? Is she getting overtime for hours above 40?
