My first instinct was to say 25 years old. But then I stopped myself. I realize I was thinking about college graduate in a decent job with 3 years of experience. Then I realize that is not very common. Many college students don't finish their study until mid to late 20's. many people don't get the right job right away.
Then I thought 35 year old should make 40K. Even if someone works in production/factory, they can reach that salary with 15 years of experience. But I do know few 30 year olds who haven't crossed the 40K mark & just to be on safe side I will say
ONE SHOULD BE MAKING 40K BY THE AGE 40 YEAR. That seems reasonable
I made 40k at 24. But remember this is the early 2000s.
I would say if your not making 40k by 30, you've gone wrong. 40k is nothing these days.
40k is $19.25 ish/ hr based on a 2080 hr work year.
At my old job, a machine shop $18/hr was the average starting wage and usually if you held on for a year you'd be bumped to $20/hr we had a 23 year old machinist making 55k a year by accepting overtime. He just a two year degree.
He wasn't amazing, he just showed up on time, was always helpful and he did things in an acceptable amount of time. It's incredible how bad the candidate pool has gotten.
I made $45,000 my first year after high school(working 2 jobs). That was a long time ago so that is like $60,000 in today's money. I think after 2-3 years at a decent job you could make $40k. In trucking you can earn that much.

Wow. That's a lot of money. What 2 year degree did he get?
